Our toilet fluid is specially formulate to break down toilet waste effectively and to create a pleasant odour. Blue Diamond toilet fluid is extremely effective and has been made in Yorkshire for 21 years. The blue fluid is used in what is known as the bottom tank of the toilet.
Blue Diamond produce three types of toilet fluid. Our three litre toilet fluid is not a concentrated fluid and contains 10% formaldehyde, our 2 litre blue toilet fluid contains 24% toilet fluid, and so is classed as a concentrate, and our third type is a formaldehyde free formula, known as Toilet Fluid Green.
When using our 24% toilet fluid it is important to remember that you can use half as much as any other non-concentrated formula - so there's no need to throw as much down the toilet. Simply put 1/2 litre of fresh water into the toilet. Then add 50mls of Blue Diamond concentrated toilet fluid (or approx 100mls if using our non-concentrated 3 litre bottle).
Our green toilet fluid is concentrated, so like our blue toilet fluid, 50mls is fine for every 15 litre holding capacity of the waste tank. 50mls is approximately one egg cup full.
An average portable toilet has a waste tank of between 25 and 30 litres capacity, which means that around 100mls of fluid is fine, which is the same as about half a tea mug.
If you do notice any problems with the breakdown of waste please up the dosage in small measures. You should never expect to use as much as 200mls for a 30 litre waste tank.

Blue Diamonds distinctive Bowl Cleaner is the bright pink fluid you'll find in most caravan dealers. Its extremely effective at disinfecting and deodorising your toilet when flushing. Whilst the blue or green toilet fluids, as mentioned above, are the main toilet fluid needed a good bowl cleaner is essential to maintain your toilet and also to work with the toilet fluid in deodorising the toilet and surrounding area.
Using both in combination ensures that your toilet is as effective and as pleasant as your home toilet.
To use, simply fill your flushing compartment (often referred to as the 'top tank') as your manufacturers state. There are several different ways to fill a top tank, but many portable and fixed toilets simply use a method whereby you unscrew a cap allowing you access to the top tank. Add approximatly 50ml of Bowl Cleaner (approx. 1 egg cup full) for every 10 litres of fresh water. Not a lot is needed to do an effective job.
It is important to use a soft tissue with portable toilets as toilet fluids have a hard time breaking down most household toilet tissues.

When using pegs it is essential to consider the time of year you are camping and to always take a set of hard ground pegs, just to be on the safe side. For most purposes many people have always relied on 9" steel pegs, which are supplied (along with 7" steel pegs in some cases) with the majority of products on the market.
It is though worth bearing in mind that these pegs are easier to damage, bend, and can also be more difficult to remove once you're ready to leave. A good set of hard ground pegs have pulling points which allow them to be removed easily with a peg puller, and they are much harder to bend or damage.
Depending on the frequency of use Blue Diamond produce two types of hard ground peg. The ones that more people buy are the 'case of hard ground pegs' which gives you 20 pegs (more than enough) for around SSP £7.99.
We also do these as separate pegs. More so for tent users, we also have a higher grade of hard ground peg which will give more use before showing any wear. You will find the majority of camping stores well versed in selling pegs and should always have someone on hand who can help. If you're still stuck though drop us an email and let us know what you're up to.
We will be more than happy to help.
